Narta Landscape
June 6, 2026
A view of the Narta area on June 6, 2026, during a protest organized in the region. Activists and citizens gathered in the Zvërnec and Narta areas, while solidarity actions and protests also took place in the diaspora (such as in the USA) to protect this ecosystem. Citizens across Albania are protesting against the government, demanding transparency regarding a luxury tourism project in the protected Narta Lagoon area—near Zvërnec and the city of Vlora—linked to Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, and his wife, Ivanka Trump. The project was planned for two locations along the Adriatic coast: the protected Vjosa-Narta delta area and the uninhabited island of Sazan.
